Trans Rights are Human Rights

The recent Supreme Court judgement and the rise of transphobic and discriminatory views in recent months and years should be a concern for us all.

I, a queer biological woman in a committed and loving heteronormative marriage, have never felt uncomfortable in the presence of a trans person. But I have felt uncomfortable, unsafe and vulnerable in the presence of some cis men. I have been assaulted, harassed and shamed by men since I was a teen.

Trans folks are not the 1% we should be concerned about as a society. They deserve respect, safety, freedom and necessary health care, just like everyone else.

I do not have the funds I used to to make a donation at this time, but I do have a platform, my time and creativity to champion the acceptance, safety, inclusion and human rights for our trans community.

Here you can download a free copy of my No LGB without T cross stitch pattern. It's beginner friendly, perfect for allies and fellow members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I ask that in doing so, if you are able, you donate as much as you can afford to one of the following causes, or another trans rights charity of your choosing.

The Good Law Project - fighting fund for trans rights

"We are committed to stand with the trans community and fight these rollbacks, whatever it takes. We’re creating a fighting fund to look at both domestic and international cases, all the way up to the European Court of Human Rights."

My Genderation

"My Genderation is a film and resource project that celebrates trans lives and trans experiences... We offer engaging, visual and informative trainings and talks about transgender lives to help businesses and organisations to connect with trans issues on a human level."

Please support My Genderation via their Patreon

Trans Actual UK

"TransActual are working towards a world where trans people can live safely, in dignity and with access to the healthcare that we need. We’re a national, trans led and run organisation focussed specifically on working for trans adults in the UK. Our work is broad ranging, but we have a particular focus on healthcare and trans people’s legal protections. We also seek to raise trans people’s voices and raise awareness of trans people’s lived experiences."

NOTE I am not currently intending to sell thread packs for this pattern, but please email me at amy@flowingfibres.com or DM me on insta if you'd like one and I may be persuaded to change my mind!
